Hey yaaal the more I want to write this blog the more I am
drawn away on various pretexts. Moi has been thinking a lot these days on why
people are so grumpy. Why shouldn’t they be I hear a lot of people say. After extensive research or rather a lot of
unsaturated thought I think it has to do with a daily habit most of us been
doing for eons. It’s the simple news paper.
Who reads the news paper these days u say? Consider this the
top three news papers in any region cover 100% of the people. That is a great
force. When an average human gets up in the morning he is in a positive frame
of mind. Ok 90% of the time you are. Bear with me here I am trying to prove a
point. Now that positive frame is completely destroyed by the time he finishes
reading his daily paper. Why u ask? Have u seen the latest papers. The front
page and in fact most of the paper is only covering crime and violence. They (by
they I mean all those media hounds who dare ask the burn victim what his favorite
food is) would have you believe that the whole world id full of criminals. Take
any day the front page is all blood and gore. Somebody killed somebody else. Somebody
was violated, someone was robbed and u pause and think what is the world come
to today and with it comes the background tone.”“Hmmm the youth of today in my
day blah blah blah”
Why does the media do this why cant all this gore go on the
second page or deeper inside and put some feel good stories on the front page. Then
maybe the guy reading it (my apologies to the feminist crowd when I mean guy I mean
everybody for me chairman means the head of the company and has nothing to do
with absence or presence of facial hair so there.) will feel a little better
about himself and the world in general. Hey I already get tensed and wrung at work
give me some peace at least till I get there huh.
As my friend the crown prince of sarcasm would say “just
stop reading then!” Ya easier said than done. They are in your face on TV on
the net everywhere. And I have had it with panel discussions. What’s the point
in some crazy nuts belonging to various party hues saying that parents can
prevent their kids going astray and that the earth is round? Hello! Tell me
something I don’t know.
But on the lighter side I follow the Kerala parliament proceedings.
Real funny bunch we elected to govern us. It seems that the only reason they
agree is to disagree. And what’s worse they are getting paid for it. With my
hard earned money. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Ok our money but its more fun in the
singular. If these guys were studying in prep they would have got solid
thrashings from the head but alas no such luck for us.
Spare a thought for the Kerala police force; a thankless job
I am sure it is. Everybody under the sun is ready to beat them up. (whether in
uniform or not according to some voice box)). But hats off to you I have heard
from a little bird that the crime solving rate is on of the highest in the
world. We salute u…
